MY DAD,

THE FOLK POTTER

A Picture Book of Pottery Making From Beginning to End

Published by Xlibris Corporation, this 54-page, full-color book, written by Blaka Y. Abee of Connelly Springs, N.C., is a newly-released young reader's picture book that shows in deep detail the complete process of making traditional pottery using methods 19th Century Catawba Valley potters used. The book includes vivid photos of the process including hand-digging and preparing local clay, turning, glazing, firing in a ground hog kiln and selling of wares at a kiln opening. Written from the perspective of a youngster as he watches his dad make pottery, this book gives readers valuable information that will be helpful to not only elementary and middle-school teachers and their students, but also to pottery enthusiasts of all ages. It would also be an artistic addition to a coffee table display.
